After being diagnosed in June 2012 with Severe Navicular and told to put Holly Berry on "palliative care", Holly and I were guided to Amanda Kroeker of ARK Nutrition. Amanda's incredible knowledge of nutrition and understanding of what makes a horse "tick", in my opinion, restored Holly's life. Her ability to put together a program specifically for the needs of your horse is an amazing thing to watch. I was told never to ride, let alone compete on Holly again as she would be dead in a year.

OTTB can be very difficult keepers. It was my hope to get away from the typical feeds of beet pulp or sweet feed and canola oil because they never seem to build the body condition I desired. My 2012 Holsteiner/Hanoverian stud colt owes his health and possibly his life to the work of Amanda Kroeker at ARK Nutrition. His dam tends to drop her foals early, and "Everest" was just barely mature enough to survive. He spent the first 10 days of his life at the vet clinic, in part because the mare had also leaked her colostrum and he required a plasma transfusion to replace what his immune system lacked.

When my senior horse, Promise, began to lose weight on her regular rations, I tried feeding her more, attempting to arrange free access to pasture and hay, having her teeth done.  A vet check came back clean.  This old girl did not (and still doesn't!) have an "I give up" look in her eye or attitude despite her ribby appearance.  So, I did not give up either.  We increased the concentrates and added oil and beet pulp even moving her to a new barn with little success.

We at Desco Holsteins were in a situation with poor breeding, fresh cows not peaking, and overall poorer health. The vet visits were frequent & milk production was not great. ARK Nutrition was invited in to troubleshoot our herd. Within 1 month our herd’s butter fat had started to climb, and cud chewing & rumen fill had improved.
